In order to cover our costs in maintaining this site, we do include advertising for local companies. Please note that although we try to only include reputable companies, we do not personally endorse or recommend the products/services offered by all these advertisers.
We have tried to design the site so that these adverts are unobtrusive, yet effective. They are mostly banner adverts above the Blackwater Valley Voice header or box adverts in the margins. We have defined advertising zones and the adverts will appear within these zones - changing automatically after a period of approximately 10 seconds.
Without the income from advertising, we would have to introduce a membership charge, which we wish to avoid as we want the site to be freely accessible to all.
If you are a local company and are considering submitting an advert on this site, consider the following reasons why an advert here is good value for money:
- We keep our charges much lower than most print media
- Your advert will appear on nearly every page within the web site
- Adverts change automatically approximately every 10 seconds. This draws interest to the adverts much more than would be the case for static (non-changing) adverts.
- You can limit your advertising to specific days of the week if you so choose

- Unlike many other “community” web sites which are just local variations produced by a national company, we live here in the Blackwater Valley
- This site is designed to be interactive - we encourage submissions from the people of the Blackwater Valley so the site is constantly being updated. This encourages people to keep coming back whereas other sites are just glorified trader lists and hardly change
- Our GiveBack scheme means we are contributing to local charities, generating more interest and involvement - how many other “community” web sites put something back into the community?
- Unlike many other advertising channels, you can cancel your advert with us at any time
